The Sparkling Men Edition

I’m grateful for: Edwin S. Porter, who according to the documentary “The Cutting Edge,” was Thomas Edison’s assistant (later director) and popularized film editing. Before 1903’s “The Train Robbery,” films were pretty much one-takes. This moved what was a tech novelty into an emotionally compelling force.

Thank you to: the man who this morning gave me the sincerest smile and “good morning” I’ve seen in this city yet, even without glancing at my chest

Something loving: I texted my boyfriend a banal schedule question that I’d probably asked him twice already and forgotten, and he sent the answer back with “I love you!”
