Living and Dying, in America!
I’m grateful for: finding out a little more about my ancestry today. I can often focus on the neuroticism and extremist religiosity handed down to me generation after generation, but I discovered two more migrations designed to avoid poverty and mass conscription. Considering Russian peasants died like flies in WWI, my family’s planning likely allowed for my existence.
Thank you to: David for being a peach. I called someone emotionally insecure, and he said, “It’s okay, you mean she’s a bitch.”
Something loving: A member of my meditation circle concluded that awareness of death should translate into, every time you enter a conversation, thinking “we’re both dying in this moment” and see how that changes the conversation.
